4 Tips to Organize Your Bucks County Space
4 Tips to Organize Your Space and Keep it that Way
Even if you don’t think of yourself as an organized person, you can still have a clean and organized space using these four simple tips to clear clutter. You may not have been born with organizational skills, but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn a few tricks to keep your home organized and your space used efficiently.
1. Know that your space does not need to look like a magazine photoshoot
Unless you are selling your home, your space should fit your current life and be livable. Perfection can be harmful when starting to organize as trying to make every space perfect is overwhelming and can be discouraging. Every space is different for every person, so don’t try to keep up with the Joneses. Your home should never look “perfect.” That isn’t a sign of good living.
2. Take each space in sections
Break your home down into manageable pieces. Most people look at all their spaces as one and immediately become overwhelmed and give up before they start. Work on one room at a time, little by little. Small accomplishments are more attainable and give you a better sense of success.
3. Know the difference between want and need
As you look through the space you are organizing, ask yourself if the item is something you really need or just wanted when you purchased it. Keep things that make you happy or items that you actually use and need in your daily life. If something is just there and is serving you absolutely no purpose, donate it.
4. Use the acronym SPACE when tackling your organizing project:
Sort: Group like things together to really get an idea of how many you really have.
Purge: Clear out the items you no longer want, need, or use. Many charities are glad to take your purged items, so look for places to donate in your area.
Assign: Give your items to a specific location in your home, ideally one that coordinates with where they will be used.
Contain: Place all items worthy of keeping in a properly sized container. Don’t go out and purchase containers because you usually have enough, you just may not have the right items in them.
Equalize: To maintain your organized space, it’s a good idea to periodically come back to those spaces to ask yourself if they are still serving your current life and make changes as necessary.
You should never be overwhelmed by disorganized space. Organizing is a learnable skill and purging consistently will leave your home clutter-free and your life less stressful. But you never have to do it alone if you do find yourself facing a large project, you can call a custom closet company to help you get the job done.
A custom closet company can create shelving, cabinets, and other storage for every part of your home from that big walk-in closet to kitchen pantry to home office space. Every room can be organized so that every item in your home has a place.
